The waterfalls are located on the Niagara River in western New York State and southeastern Ontario. Niagara Falls consists of three waterfalls: the American Falls to the left of center, Bridal Veil Falls just right of the American Falls and the Horseshoe Falls on the right of the panorama, which is on the Canadian side of the border. Every evening, after sunset, illumination of the falls displays a rainbow of colors in the rapidly moving water and mist. Lighting up the sky most weekends is a colorful fireworks display.
